High learning teams

Through this High Learning Teams workshop, you will learn to facilitate spaces and conversations that allow for both individual and collective learning, establishing practices and agreements. You will also have your first reflections on how to increase psychological safety, which is key to success.

Organisations face the challenge of creating learning cultures where individuals and teams prioritise the rapid updating of skills and knowledge, developing their abilities. 90% of learning comes from experience and colleagues, and only 10% from courses! To take advantage of that 90%, three major factors are required: 1) that people have the techniques and tools to transmit knowledge and to communicate effectively, 2) that teams agree on and implement specific learning practices and 3) that the organisational environment facilitates the learning culture through a safe environment, where people feel free to contribute without being judged.

  2. How can I effectively explain an idea to my team? How can I best convey technical or formal knowledge?
    • Planning the informal session: content, resources, structure.
    • Techniques for presenting complex ideas in a simple way (storytelling, visual thinking, 5 whys and root cause analysis)
    • Dynamic session design (visual and/or digital resources).Group management (techniques to encourage high participation and collaboration from people, manage turns to speak, etc.)
  3. How can I encourage my team to learn? How can I help to generate collective learning? Practices to promote high learning teams:
    • Feedback and improvement conversations
    • Feedforward and powerful questions
    • Retrospectives
    • Hypothesis matrix to encourage experimentation
    • One-on-one
    • Open Space and Lean Coffee
    • Other ways of learning: learning in pairs, reverse mentoring, communities of practice.
